38th Macao International Music Festival takes the “Floating Notes Across the City” activities to local neighbourhoods
MACAU, September 4 - In order to further expand the community reach and benefits of artistic and cultural events and strengthen the cultivation of aesthetic education in society, the 38th Macao International Music Festival (MIMF), organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), will present 44 sessions of 12 “Floating Notes Across the City” activities, including surprise performances at cultural attractions and in the neighbourhoods, as well as pop music sharing session with band, a children’s choir concert, pre-show talk, backstage tours, talk, film screenings and charity events, bringing music beyond specific venues and into various districts across the city, drawing the public closer to music.
The rich and diverse range of the “Floating Notes Across the City” activities will be presented in various districts across the city. Macao band thetiredeyes will present the concert Orchestra Reimagined: wHiRlwiND”, which specialises in blending jazz, R&B, neo-soul, hip-hop and pop music with classical arrangement techniques to create rich and diverse sound textures. The “Sailing Melodies Shining in Macao: Yip’s Children’s Choir Concert” will be presented by the Yip’s Children’s Choir and the Macao Youth Choir, sharing the joy of their pure voices. The “Pre-show Talk: Laurence Cummings and Macao Orchestra” will explore the essence of the concert’s repertoire, delving into the musical worlds of Vivaldi, Bach and Handel. The “Backstage Tour: Turandot” will take audiences behind the scenes of the opera Turandot. The “Talk: Turandot” will discuss the new production from different professional perspectives.
In order to further bring cultural resources to the communities and promote the concept of “Where Culture Flourishes, Happiness Happens”, a number of promotional activities will be held in various districts from 10 October to 22 November, including “Hear Xinghai: A Fantastic Musical Journey with Xian Xinghai, the Son of Macao”, “Street Eco-Percussion”, “Piano Around Town”, “Community Music Party” and “Flash Mob in Community”, bringing music to every corner of the city. In addition, several film screenings will be presented as part of the “Music on the Big Screen: Cinematheque．Passion” programme, allowing the public to have a deeper understanding and get close to diverse aspects of music, so as to enhance their artistic appreciation. This year’s MIMF will also hold charity events, sharing the beauty of culture and arts with different communities.
Registration for some of the abovementioned activities is available through the “Activity Applications” of the Macao One Account (activity.mo.gov.mo/activity-h5/activity-list-web) from 10am on 14 September. Admission to some of the activities is not free of charge.
