Champions crowned at WTT Champions Macao 2026 presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group
MACAU, September 13 - WTT Champions Macao 2026 presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group, organized by the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, World Table Tennis (WTT) and Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG), and co-organized by the Macau Table Tennis General Association, concluded today (13 September) at the Macao East Asian Games Dome. Sweden’s Truls Moregard and Japan’s Miwa Harimoto won the men’s and women’s singles titles, respectively.
The men’s and women’s singles semifinals were held this morning. In the men’s singles, Truls Moregard prevailed 4-3 in a tight contest against Japan’s Tomokazu Harimoto (11-13, 11-6, 6-11, 12-10, 11-8, 9-11, 16-14). Brazil’s Hugo Calderano then eliminated Sweden’s Anton Kallberg in straight games (11-5, 11-7, 11-8, 11-7).
In the women’s singles, China’s Chen Yi defeated Japan’s Hina Hayata 4-3 in a seven-game match (11-4, 11-6, 8-11, 11-8, 8-11, 16-18, 11-4) to advance to the final. China’s Chen Xingtong, however, saw her run end with a 1-4 loss to Miwa Harimoto (8-11, 10-12, 11-6, 9-11, 10-12).
The evening session started with the women’s singles final between Chen Yi and Miwa Harimoto. After losing the first two games, Chen stepped up a gear to take three games in a row. However, she was unable to close out the match and ultimately lost 3-4 (7-11, 7-11, 11-9, 11-8, 13-11, 9-11, 10-12) to finish as runner-up.
In the men’s singles between Hugo Calderano and Truls Moregard, the Swede got off to a flying start, taking the first two games. Calderano mounted a brief comeback to take the third game, but Moregard then reeled off the next two games to clinch the title with a 4-1 win (11-7, 11-9, 3-11, 11-8, 11-9).
An award ceremony was held after the matches. The presenters included Chris Tam, ITTF Chief Operations Officer, WTT Acting Chief Operations Officer; Buddy Lam, Director of Corporate Affairs of Galaxy Entertainment Group; and João Ma Chi Tat, Chairman of the Macau Table Tennis General Association.
